Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It's called the Rainbow Bridge
because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills, and valleys with
lush green grass.
When beloved pets die, they go to this place.
There is always food and water and
warm spring weather,
the old and frail are young again,
those who are maimed are made whole.
They play all day long,
with only one thing missing...
they are not with the special person
who loved them on Earth.
So each day they run and play until the day comes, when one suddenly stops playing and looks up...
the nose twitches, the ears are up, the eyes are staring, and this one runs from the group.
You have been seen.
When you and your special friend meet,
you take him or her in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your
trusting and beloved friend.
Then together you cross the Rainbow Bridge, never again to be separated.

Rainbow Bridge

If you know Donald well, or have ever met him at one of the gallery shows or Indian Markets, you know how much he loves animals. Especially dear to him was a small pound puppy that grew to be his constant companion for over a decade. After Tommy Ray passed on, Donald created The Rainbow Bridge both as a remembrance for that special friend and as a touchstone for everyone who has ever shared the warmth and unconditional love that only dogs bring to our world.

Donald's original painting of The Rainbow Bridge has been exhibited at Indian Markets around the country. It took a top prize at the Tenth Annual Celebration of American Indian Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, as well as winning the hearts of collectors from coast to coast.

A special treat for collectors: This is the first work ever published where Donald put a self-portrait in the image. He appears in the distance at the right, with Tommy Ray running to meet him.
